A hint of spring
It’s still March and the days not surprisingly, can still be grey, damp and chilly but that aside there are plenty of unmistakable signs that spring is on the way.
Walking along the Macclesfield canal with just a hint of spring in the air on each of the last couple of days has been really lovely.
On consecutive days we have walked in opposite directions from where we had parked our car after the short drive from home.
There are a few photographs in the picture galleries below – Picture Galley 1 and Picture Gallery 2 from each of our short walks of around seven and six miles respectively.
Its not the first time we have walked there
It’s certainly not the first time we have walked along the stretch of canal that we covered, and our walks that way in the last couple of days wont be our last along there.
The canal is unusually wide in places, with more than it’s fair share of pretty views and pretty bridges along with plenty of benches to take a rest. Depending which way you head there is also a very decent coffee stop at Baileys Trading Post. I think the last time we were that way was around four months or ago and you can check out a post from then at this link October 2020.
An unusual sighting
One of the things we hadn’t expected to see was a small group of Welsh Harlequin ducks, so it really was something of a bonus to see these pretty and colourful ducks. These the post at this link for more about the Welsh Harlequin. You can check out pictures of them in the second of the picture galleries below.
