Getting back out – a trip to Dagfields antiques in Cheshire

Circumstances have meant that holidays, trips and days have looked a little different or at least lacking the variety that they might otherwise have had I not had my road traffic accident at the start of June.

But I am on the mend. Getting back to being able to do some of the things we enjoy doing together feels like a bonus.

You may know from previous posts that we often enjoy visiting antique type places whether close to home or when we are away.

The last time I wrote about such visits was back in February. At that time I wrote about visits to Gilly Antiques and the Vintage Emporium – you can revisit that post by clicking this link.

Gilly Antiques is located in Bolton whilst the Vintage Emporium is located in the former Edwardian cotton spinning mill – Pear Mill in Stockport

Another vintage emporium

This time we headed out towards Nantwich in Cheshire and to Dagfields Craft & Antiques Centre.

Having been there once before (back in Spring) we knew what to expect and knew it was worth another visit.

The Craft & Antique Centre is the largest in the North West and I’d say is well worth a visit if you like to browse around places like this.

It’s located in Cheshire and easy enough to find with sat nav.

Although I think it’s worth a visit, I would describe it more as an antique emporium than a craft centre – but I think some of the ‘units’ that may lean more towards the craft description may have been closed during our visit.

I never really quite know what makes the distinction between antiques and things that are just old and that have probably been scooped up in house clearances. But whatever the definition and whatever the difference we enjoyed a few hours there.

Plenty of car parking but …

There is plenty of car parking and as far as I am aware the site seemed to be pretty accessible. I’m probably a little more tuned in to that at the moment given my accident and the temporary impact on my mobility. I particularly noted that there were plenty of benches (outside) to sit down if needed.

On the downside there seemed to be quite a few signs saying that cash is preferable – which is fine when there are alternatives facilities to take payments by card or mobile phone.

But having to walk from the tea room to the flower shop to use the card facilities to pay for refreshments bought in the tea room just seemed odd and inconvenient – thankfully we were blessed with a glorious autumn day – I’d have been underwhelmed to have had to had done that to complete the transaction had it been raining

So did we buy anything?

Well the answer to that is yes – apart from a bite to eat and something to drink I bought another charming vintage oil can – I can’t resist.

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and to me there’s a beauty in the simplicity of oil cans like the one i bought on this visit and with the others it now sits alongside in my garage.
