Macro photo’s from the garden it’s pretty much a spider post
My current mobility restrictions caused by events at the start of June are continuing to make things a bit difficult to get out and about.
In turn those difficulties mean photography is pretty restricted as well. The last couple of posts have been ‘macro themed’ and have been taken in the garden. As with previous macro posts the pictures are taken using a Canon EOS 90D and a Sigma 105mm f2.8 lens.
Mostly spiders
This post sticks with that approach and most of the pictures feature close up shots of spiders.
It seems to me that we have more spiders and webs in the garden this year than in previous years. There really are lots and there seem to be webs all over.
I think some of it may be down to the long period of hot and dry weather we have had which I know makes it ideal for spiders to breed at the same time as providing plenty of insect prey for them to dine on.
And a spider is …
A quick check on the internet for the definition of a spiders tells me that they are classified as arachnids , which are a type of arthropod within the animal kingdom.
Key characteristics that differentiate them from insects include having eight legs, two main body segments (cephalothorax and abdomen), lack of antennae, and the presence of chelicerae (fang-like appendages).
