The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM on the Canon EOS 90D
Continued mobility limitations and the frustration of not being able to get out and about in the way I like have led to me taking a few more garden pictures. If you don’t know why I’m not out and about as much as I would like head over to this link for more info’
Recent garden pictures have all been with the terrific Sigma 105mm F2.8, DG Macros HSM lens.
Thought I would give it a try
For just a little variety and as much out of boredom as anything else I thought I would see what the EF-S 55-250mm lens was like with my 90D.
I originally had this lens when I bought an EOS 200D but then my son had it when he purchased the 250D and I had moved onto the 90D. I covered off my telephoto lens needs with initially a Sigma 150-600mm and then the Sigma 100-400mm which I think is quite superb and it’s a lens I still have.

This isn’t any sort of technical review of the lens – there are plenty of online reviews from more competent photographers than me.
This is just a few garden snaps with a lens I haven’t used for about three years. I borrowed the lens off my son for an hour or two to pass some time.
What I would say though is that for a light weight lens that will easily fit into most camera bags it’s a pretty decent option to have.
You can pick up a good used model for around £130 (excellent condition) to around £150 or so for ‘like new’ condition – bear in mind it’s only suitable for an APS-C, but f you want a zoom that’s very decent, for not much money and isn’t at all heavy. In my opinion this really is an excellent option and for not a lot of money.
