Wandering around Manchester – it’s difficult not to like it.

Wandering around Manchester – it’s difficult not to like it.

I last posted about being in central Manchester earlier in the year – in February and again in March.

This is another picture post from a recent trip into Manchester. We went to see The Moonwalkers at Aviva Studios. Moonwalkers is a short immersive show about the Apollo moon landings. It also looks ahead to the Artemis programme planned for 2026. There is always plenty happening in Manchester.

There’s always plenty going on in Manchester

A few weeks earlier, we visited Media City. It is known as the UK’s leading hub for media and creativity.

We went to hear a live recording for BBC Radio 3 by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. We enjoyed it so much that we booked more events for January and March.

In November, we also visited the Royal Exchange Theatre. We were there to see a great production of Singin’ in the Rain earlier this month.  It really is a wonderful venue to visit. In fact we have tickets for more shows there between now and April.

We will probably combine those visits with a wander around and a bite to eat and drink. There’s so much to see and do in Manchester and as I said in the blog post title – ‘it’s difficult not to like it’. The last but one picture set has some photo’s from the BBC trip and Royal Exchange trips. You’ll see from the trip to see Singin’ in the Rain, it was a wholly apt title.

Picture set 1

This first picture set is simply a series of street images. And in case you’re interested these pictures were all taken with a compact camera – a Canon G7 mk iii. Our primary purpose was to head to the Aviva Studios rather than to make it a ‘photography day’ so it wasn’t really a day for taking a bigger camera and different lenses.

Pictures set 2

The pictures in this set are just a handful of pictures from the Aviva studio. As ever clicking any image below should open a clickable and scrollable picture gallery.

Picture set 3

More pictures from Manchester and after we had seen the Moonwalkers show. We stopped for refreshments in The Britains Protection a wonderful old pub that dates back to 1806 and is actually a Grade II listed building.

You can read some truly fascinating information about the pub at this link.

Picture set 4

I mentioned earlier in this blog post that we had recently been in central Manchester to see the BBC Phiharmonic Orchestra at Media City and Singin in the Rain at the Royal Exchange Theatre here’s a couple of photo sets from both of those visits.

Royal Exchange trip – Singin in the Rain

Some black & white pictures to finish

No particular reason to put these pictures in other than a little self indulgence and simply because I like them – usual thing click any image to open a clickable and scrollable picture gallery.
