Goldfinch in the garden – a pretty and colourful bird

The goldfinch is certainly a pretty and colourful bird, we now have a few that are regular visitors to our garden and two or three of them seem to visit several times a day on most days of the week.

A quick search on this blog of the word ‘goldfinch’ will bring up their mention in several posts and there are a reasonable number of pictures of our garden visitors throughout the blog.

One of the things that we have found quite challenging, from a photography point of view is to capture decent photographs that clearly show the eyes – it’s not easy with black eyes against black plumage.
