Pleasant walking in Reddish Vale country park – Manchester.

It’s been a while since we have been walking in Reddish Vale Country Park.  The last time I posted a blog from there was back in 2022. You can see that post at this link.

It’s a very decent place to go for a wander, on previous occasions we have often walked to and from the park as it’s an easy walk of around five miles or so from our home.

Some current mobility issues didn’t make that a viable proposition for this trip so we opted to make the short journey by car.

The morning weather was really good and felt quite unseasonable which was ideal for our short visit and our relatively slow walking pace.

Quieter than we expected

I was surprised how few people were about when we arrived.

The car park is only small but there were probably only half a dozen or so cars there when we arrived, so we had no problem at all in finding a parking space.

We headed off for a walk around one of the two ‘top ponds’,  although there are clear walking routes (and cycle and bridleways) that link with the Goyt, Etherow, Saddleworth and Longdendale trails we didn’t opt for anything as strenuous as that.

This trip was just another step on the road to fitness since my accident at the start of June and the slower pace that has been imposed on me since then.

Although it’s possible to see quite a variety of birds at Reddish Vale including sand martins and kingfishers that nest in the river banks, other than the birds in the and around the two mill ponds it all seemed pretty quiet.

Around the ponds there were geese, herons, grebes, cormorants, coots and a mixed variety of ducks.

Picture set one

There’s a selection of pictures in this set from our wandering around.

For those who have an interest the pictures in this set and in Picture set two were mostly taken with a Canon EOS 90D with a Tamron SP 70-220mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 lens. A few pictures were also taken with the excellent Canon G7 Mark III compact camera.

Picture set two – autumn colours

It's good to share
