The other day we had set off in the car to drive towards Chinley and head out for a walk along the Peak Forest canal, but we were distracted as we drove under the Broadbottom viaduct when we saw signs for the Pennine Way. So rather than carry onto Chinley we parked up and went for a relatively short walk (about three miles or so), startin off alongside the river until the path/public right of way took us past a couple of private houses and out onto a fairly overgown path alonside the fields.
It was short but enjoyable despite the rain. It’s a walk that we think we will do again as the path alongside the river, at the start of our walk was very quiet and peaceful and looks like it might well be a haven for the local wildlife.
