Autumn wanderings along the water

Autumn wanderings along the water

Family events and circumstances really have thrown our regular walking pattern into disarray, we will get back to old routines but the last few months have been pretty disrupted with one thing and another.

Having said that we did manage to have quite a decent walk alongside the River Tame and then alongside the Peak Forest canal. A break in the weather made for quite a mild day and although there wasn’t a great deal of wildlife about it was good to get out and enjoy the space, fresh air and exercise.

Kingfisher

One of the birds that we don’t often see flitting along the canal is the kingfisher – so you can imagine our surprise when we ‘followed’ one for a good few hundred yards as he flew then stopped, then flew then stopped several times, but was never quite close enough for us to get really decent pictures, although I did manage to grab a couple of’ snaps’ and that you will find in the gallery below.

More walking

We are hoping to make good on some of the lack of walking with another trip to Scotland scheduled – so watch out and check back for news and pictures from that trip.
