Pembrokeshire: a picture post from South West Wales – Part 1

Pembrokeshire: a picture post from South West Wales – Part 1

We are just back from rounding our ‘travel year’ off with a trip to Pembrokeshire in South West Wales. This is Part 1 of a two part blog post.

Our last short break in the UK was back in March when we had stayed up in the Scottish Borders. Other breaks this year included trips we did together to Poland and Hungary which were excellent. I also managed a few decent bike trips. The following links will take you to the motorbikes blog with info’ and pictures from trips to Ireland, Scotland and Spain/Portugal.

Good way to round the year off

The chance for a week away in Pembrokeshire was just too good to resist. With time on our hands we booked our last trip of the year to a place near the Welsh coast in Llanrhian.

Llanrhian is village in west Wales, just a few miles from the small cathedral city of  St Davids and a little less than a mile from the pretty harbour at Porthgain.

Not our first visit

We’ve holidayed in Pembrokeshire a few times and have always enjoyed our time there. This trip was no exception. A spell of relatively mild weather for much of the time we were there made for a decent and enjoyable break.

These pictures are from a wander around the county town of Haverfordwest.

Picture set two

As ever clicking on any image will open a picture gallery that can be clicked or scrolled through. The pictures in this second set are from the coastal hamlet of Porthgain and the nearby coastal path.

Picture set three

The pictures in the third and final set of this post are from Pembroke, Stackpole and the superb nearby beach at Barafundel Bay. It’s a beautiful beach and I think this was probably the third or fourth time we have been there. You can only get there after making a half mile or so walk from Stackpole, it’s not a difficult walk and it’s always more than worth it.

We rounded off our day with a drink and bite to eat in the decent Sloop Inn at Porthgain.
