Wandering around Stockport – with its own ‘graffiti alley’
Stockport is an urban area and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester. It’s a place we often go to – primarily for shopping and occasionally just for a wander around and a coffee.
It’s a pleasant enough, famous in the past amongst other things for it’s hatting industry and silk works. The town centre is currently undergoing some much needed redevelopment and you can read more about that here on the local authority web site.
I have written previously …
I have written previously about Stockport, or more specifically about visiting the home of Stockport Gin – if you missed that you can check that article out here. I would definitely recommend booking a visit on the tour as well as purchasing some of the very decent gin.
But this post is not really about anything more than posting some pictures from a Sunday wander around in late February.
Two sets of pictures
The pictures are in two sets – the first features quite an extensive array of graffiti – much of it pictures on the walkway that leads from nearby the large Tesco store and down to the river. In all the time I have lived in Manchester and the hundreds of times I have visited Stockport it wasn’t until this trip that I even knew this path existed. I named it Graffiti alley as it seemed so apt.
Some of the other images in the first picture gallery are from the area located close to the famous Strawberry Recording studios in the Waterloo Road area.
The second picture gallery is simply a set of no graffiti pictures from wandering around the town centre.
