Visiting Arnside & Leighton Moss
The last time we had been at Arnside together was in August 2020, and we managed to make it back there in Spring of this year. It’s only now in September that I have had chance to get this blog post sorted.
A little bit overdue
Arnside really is a lovely place and a place I can easily return to without being bored or tried of it. It really is pleasant, it’s only a small place but seems to have a relaxed and old fashioned feel to it.
Our return there was a little overdue – just like this blog post really, but with so many other commitments and a couple of motorcycle road trips to Ireland this blog post is one got lost in the blizzard of ‘things to do’ But better late than never I suppose.
In the Morecambe Bay area
Arnside is actually a small village in in the Morecambe Bay area of Cumbria, historically part of Westmorland and near the border with Lancashire. It’s also very close to the Lake District National Park.
As well as visiting Arnside we decided we would also make time for a visit to the RSPB site at Leighton Moss. The Leighton Moss site is superb and is located in the Carnforth area just a short drive from Arnside. Its proximity means it’s really easy to fit both in and make a decent day out – especially if you make a route up through the Trough of Bowland.
Although it was April when we were last up there together I was there on my own last month when I had a very decent day out on one of my bikes, if you missed that post you can read it here.
Hopefully we will soon be back
We have a busy September but I’d like to think we can make another visit up there, perhaps in October and before the winter sets in.
